COSTUME POST #14 O YEA THE BETA PIEC MACKEREL COLEB

HELLO ANOTHER BLAG OST FOR A CHES BUT NOT NORMEL CHES BUT PIC MACKER MOD OL

OK

This is a mod by ABC_Boy for the Piece Maker, it's not official. Here only to provide suggestions and bug reports.

First of all, I immediately noticed that unlike the StratShotPlayerV2V2, http://i.imgur.com/cy4YC4t.png, no background or images were showing up, not even on a refresh: https://i.sli.mg/kT7LYB.png. Pretty important.

Second, and I noticed this in the SSPV2V2 picture as well, the board and grid are much darker than they should be. Is this ABC_Boy's monitor setup or what, in which those look right? These are the colors in the game (color code and white%):
FEFEFE (99.6)
CBCBCB (79.6),
the colors in the original Piece Maker (which I'll refer to as PM1 or PM64 if you like) are:
FFFFFF (100),
AAAAAA (66.7),
and this piece maker is super dark, with only 80% brightness for its 'white' color!!
CCCCCC (80)
AAAAAA (66.7)

Third, the fonts look a little off. Looks like there's not enough spacing between the words (I did CSS with words before, and it was a Knightmare for me to stretch or change the font visual.

Speaking of Knightmare, well, here's an example of a Knightmare I made in the editor. As you can see many things are off (dark grid, no background, weird font), but also showing the want for a Line function. Even with the suuuper nice Draw feature, it's still annoying to draw Bishop lines, and Knightmare (or Nightrider) pieces are a hassle.

(Draw feature described in length here. Box is also suggested.) http://superchessawesomeblog.blogspot.com/2016/07/colberation-post-13-box-maker-pice.html

Note that I drew all the Knightmare squares at first, then I realized my mistake (Knightmare squares are still defined as blocked if their in-between squares are occupied). So I made a custom action, and realized if you have a too long word, it breaks the bounds (because it has no space to break up the word 'cause it is one long word). Second, I have to make the Knightmare lines again, and this would really help (especially for upgrades where they can change as well). Third, I noticed clicking on the origin, the black dot doesn't do anything, so it'd be neat if you could activate the Line that way as well.

I also noticed that these squares are much larger than the CEO squares. Well, it's true. This is even discounting the outline and they're bigger (the CEO one also has a bit of blur in its edges). Ironically, this green square is too bright. Also, I'm not comparing a white square from CEO and a black square from this piece maker... They are BOTH black squares. That should give you an idea about how dark this thing is.

Fourth (next) the custom Action editor. It's really functional. If you're unfamiliar, border color is the topmost layer, the fill color is the background and the symbol color is the color of the symbol, represented in RGB (which should be mentioned). This is something that could REALLY use color pickers or sliders, because I need to go into an actual image editor if I want to do what I want to here (I want to take the green Jump square here, copy it here and then put a symbol on it). Because there are no sliders, you'll see a lot of pieces where all they did was change the hundreds digit and brute force if it was the right color.

* FYI, Jump is a shorthand of (Unblockable) Move or Attack, and it's not only easier to type but less confusing when put in parentheses.

Next, the description is more annoying to do in comparison to PM64. I just typed out something of the lines of "Jump, unless the knight moves that get to this square..." - Then I realize I typed it wrong, but now I don't know where. This will also make it harder to spot typos. And sometimes you can't even close it and try to read it from the piece description itself, since the Custom Action box blocks (NoBlock) the description at times (notice how the ++ version of Knightmare has its Jump command fully blocked?)

It's also quite annoying to edit mistakes, because you have to either hold down the arrow keys (slow) or select the text and drag left/right (SUPER FAST)! I ended up just copypasting the text and editing it in a text editor in the end, then pasting it back. Which makes you wonder... WHAT HAPPENED to the functionality in the previous Piece Maker where you could edit the descriptions on the piece description itself? You know, where you can actually see the whole thing? (This should be allowed for Passives as well though that function wasn't in PM64.)

However, I really like the symbol edits. It'd be neat to have some different font choices, but the fact that you can put in 3 symbols at once that overlap makes for some very interesting icons ([ and ] together basically make the gemini split symbol, etc).

Next up, the custom actions themselves. You are allotted 8 custom actions, which are probably enough for normal pieces, but not enough for highly evolved/various/joke pieces. It should be possible to create new custom actions if the fear is that there would be too many to possibly display. (There's also a few symbol issues/suggestion: the beta "[Pay 3] ." should be in the unofficial section, there should be Summoner/Portal teleports in which they *don't* say (Magic), Move from Start and Teleport from Start should be closer, there should be unofficial Attack/Jump/Lunge from start, etc).*

* FYI, I define Lunge to be the unblockable version of Attack Only. I think I'm the first to use Lunge as it, it fits very nicely! The color should be dark red. Well, if you look through ABC_Boy's lenses it's probably black.

You should probably also be able to edit specific elements of custom actions, like changing a [Pay 1] to be free, a turn 2 enchant to be a turn 3 enchant, etc.

Next upV2, passives. "Immune to Magic and Ranged" blah is no longer a thing. Instead, it's (Magic-Immune) (Ranged-Immune) (Status-Immune). Also, they all lack periods.

The sharing feature seems broken. I wasn't able to save the image to my computer, no download showed up. At least I can provide a picture!

Knightmare: Less OP than you think
UPDATE: I've found a nasty bug; if you click twice on an action to select it, it undos and reverts back to the square you previously selected. I thought things were going awry.

  1. Already covered most by PMing (Piece Maker-ing?), but here's some general things I want to note:

    1. The UI being dark is not intentional lol
    2. The boxes being bigger and brighter than normal is due to a combination of limitation, and the general inconsistency between sizes, border width and transparency.
    3. I'm only focused on making the CAE this time, as it's my initial plan, and the Passive thing isn't really broken.
